The Longevity Biotechnology Association is a non-profit organization representing global leaders in geroscience and gerotherapeutics: the development of new medicines and therapies to prevent and cure, rather than merely manage, the health conditions of late life. We are driven by a shared belief that every person deserves a life that is healthy, full and long.
Human life expectancy has nearly doubled since 1900 thanks to medicine's immense progress against infectious diseases. However, a consequence is that the diseases of aging have replaced infectious diseases as humanity's leading cause of death. The overwhelming majority of healthcare costs in the developed world are spent treating these diseases, such as cancer and Alzheimer's, which typically become chronic and debilitating conditions that can last for decades - and the developing world is rapidly approaching the same predicament.
After decades of failure to eliminate any major age-related disease, new insights into the way the human body changes as we age have led to unprecedented optimism concerning foreseeable treatment for today's most pressing conditions. Geroscientists have devised hundreds of interventions that can extend the healthy lifespan of animals in laboratory studies. These interventions have now started to leave the lab bench and make their way into the clinic, shepherded by a diverse group of scientists, physicians, drug developers, businesspeople, investors, and patients.
It’s therefore timely that the leading stakeholders In this emerging sector have come together to form the Longevity Biotechnology Association, with the following goals:

To educate governments, the media, the public and the medical field about the promise of emerging therapies with the potential to treat or prevent multiple age-related conditions at once.
2. Collaborate With Each Other
To collaborate in order to create and disseminate best practices in the geroscience field.
3. Advise Newcomers
To provide insightful advice to those new to this field about approaches to geroscience and the technologies that it incorporates.
4. Work With Regulators
To work with regulators to establish well-defined, rapid paths to approval that will bring this new class of therapies to patients.
